Barack, Michelle Obama laugh off divorce rumors: See their relationship through the years
July 16, 2025, 11:40 p.m. ET

Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama have been dogged by speculation about their marriage since they left the White House in 2017. Though they reached a fever pitch in recent years — as Michelle Obama sat out the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and later the second inauguration of President Donald Trump — the couple has confirmed they are stronger than ever, decades after their 1992 wedding.
"There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quittin' my man. And we've had some really hard times," Michelle Obama said in the July 16, 2025, episode of her "IMO" podcast, which featured her husband as the guest. "We have had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures and I have become a better person because of the man I'm married to."
