Savannah Guthrie returns to the 'Today' show after mother's kidnapping

Savannah Guthrie appears on the “Today” show on Monday, April 6 2026 after being absent for more than two months amid the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

"These signs are so beautiful," an emotional Guthrie said while standing in the plaza. "You guys have been so beautiful. I've received so many letters, so much kindness, to me and my whole family. We feel it. We feel your prayers. So thank you so much."

Guthrie spent a few minutes greeting her supporters, hugging a woman wearing a "Welcome Home Savannah" shirt, posing for pictures and wishing happy birthday to young kids holding signs.

Savannah Guthrie returns to the "Today" show on Monday, April 6 for the first time since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing on Feb. 1.

Savannah Guthrie has been a main co‑anchor of NBC’s "Today" show since 2012.
