The end of an era came to "Wheel of Fortune" fans everywhere with the retirement of the seminal TV game show host. Pat Sajak's final show appearance was June 2024, following a week of farewell episodes. Sajak in June 2023 announced his plans to retire after his 41st season with the show, saying, "It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all." Pat Sajak, a former member of the Air Force, hosts the popular program. Several episodes of the show, taped in Las Vegas, offered many Air Force members and their families the opportunity to compete. The shows were taped in February 2002.

Sajak also was in town to promote the return of "Wheel" to Channel 4's lineup.
