The '90s were an explosive era for cinema. Big-budget action films dominated the box office and advancements in CGI gave us the first completely computer-animated feature film, "Toy Story," which spawned three successful sequels.
The decade also saw a wave of memorable comedies ("Home Alone," "Austin Powers") and romantic movies ("Ghost," "Pretty Woman"). It also gave us "Titanic," pictured here, which was the highest grossing film of all time until "Avatar" surpassed it in 2009. Using box office numbers, 24/7 Tempo has compiled the biggest box office hits of the 1990s, including examples of all these genres.
