On June 4, 1984, Springsteen released his seventh studio album, "Born in the U.S.A." The first single, "Dancing in the Dark," became his first video and featured a young Courteney Cox.

Springsteen played to some 300,000 East Germans thirsting for freedom on July 19, 1988, in East Berlin. Years later, Springsteen would call it one of the most memorable shows of his career.
