Shakira stunned in a custom-made, form-fitting bubblegum pink gown designed by Prabal Gurung at the 2025 Met Gala.

Bad Bunny wore a custom chocolate brown Prada suit designed to honor Puerto Rican jíbaro (countryside farmer) culture in 2025.

At the 2024 Met Gala celebrating "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," Zendaya wore two distinct John Galliano-designed looks styled by Law Roach, first stepping out in a custom ocean-blue and green Maison Margiela Artisanal gown inspired by peacocks.

Zendaya's followed up with a surprise second look in a black vintage Givenchy gown from 1996 at the 2024 Met Gala.

Blake Lively wore an Atelier Versace gown to the 2022 Met Gala for the "Gilded Glamour" theme. 

Blake Lively's bow unraveled to show a longer train during her 2022 stint as Met Gala co-chair. The Atelier Versace gown was an ode to the Statute of Liberty and its green patina that formed over its original copper surface.

Janelle Monáe told Vogue on the red carpet that her Ralph Lauren gown imagined "gilded glamour from the future."

Rosalía turned heads at the 2022 Met Gala in a cream Givenchy gown with a beaded bodice, puffed sleeves and a whimsical train.

Away went the cape and Lil Nas X showed off a robotic outfit reminiscent of "Star Wars" C-3PO. 

Tear away the hard shell and the performer showed off a soft silhouette in a sparkling jumpsuit. 

Kendall Jenner paid homage to Audrey Hepburn at the 2021 Met Gala in a custom sheer Givenchy gown dripping in jewels reminiscent of the iconic actress' look in the 1964 film "My Fair Lady."

Jennifer Lopez turned "Jenny from the Block" into Jenny from the wild, wild West. The singer, actress and dancer arrived to the Met Gala in 2021 dressed in American designer Ralph Lauren, channeling the "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" theme.

The true belle of the 2021 ball was Billie Eilish. The Grammy-winning singer typically arrives in dark colors, but for the Met ball she switched it up for a light moment to match her then-new blonde hair. Oscar de la Renta was the fashion house behind her look.

Fellow celebrity host Amal Clooney may have not stuck as closely to 2018's theme, but who cares when the results look this good? Her Richard Quinn ensemble consisted of a metallic silver corset, navy pants and flowing floral train.

Ariana Grande made the best-dressed list her first time out in 2018, embracing the religious theme with a Sistine Chapel-inspired gown from Vera Wang.

Blake Lively looked heavenly in a custom Versace gown in 2018. It featured bejeweled bodice, curve-skimming skirt and a scarlet-and-gold train worthy of Cersei Lannister. She finished off the look with a gold halo.

In 2018, Priyanka Chopra wore scarlet and gold, too, but went in a different direction: a velvet bodice and skirt topped with an ornate gold-and-jewel-encrusted hood that spilled onto her shoulders. It was another successful collaboration with Ralph Lauren, who designed her trench coat dress for the previous year's gala and her wedding gown one year later. Zendaya had a ball with designer Michael Kors at the 2016 event, and it showed in her striking gown by the designer and edgy hair.

Beyonce stunned at the "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" gala wearing a peach-colored Givenchy latex gown in 2016.

Dresses aren't the only way to stand out. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka donned cropped tuxedo tails for the 2014 event.

Miley Cyrus was a standout at the "PUNK: Chaos to Couture"-themed gala in 2013 in a netted Marc Jacobs dress and spiky cropped hair.

Gwen Stefani also nailed the theme that year in Maison Martin Margiela, though many others struggled with a punk look that fit the red carpet.
