These kids can't be home for Christmas. An influencer is here to help.

CVS Health and Ronald McDonald House have partnered to support families of sick children. They launched this partnership on Dec. 3 with a festive celebration at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, which is the original Ronald McDonald House.

"I know how hard it is for families to be away from home during the holidays," decorator Meghan Gallagher, who lives in Philadelphia, said. "So for me to be able to come in here and bring a little bit of joy into their lives and make them feel a bit of nostalgia ... was really important to me."

Home decor might sound frivolous. But Laura Van Tassell, annual giving manager at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, said it's important to keep the house feeling warm and friendly "because we know that our guests are really facing some of the most challenging or darkest times in their lives." "We want to be a warm and welcome space for them to come back to at the end of what can be a really hard day," she said.

Health is about more than clinical care, said Jenny McColloch, CVS vice president of sustainability & community impact. "When we think about what families are going through if they're staying at a Ronald McDonald House, it's a very challenging moment for them," she said. This partnership is a chance to "help create that warmth and spirit of community that we know is really important for the families staying here."

"It is truly a house that is built on love. It's been amazing to have throughout his life, the people supporting us, a roof over our head, warm meals that we don't have to worry about," said Jessica Allen, who has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia many times while her son receives care. "It gives you all the comforts of home."

It can be difficult for some families to be away from home for the holidays while their kids are receiving treatment, said Laura Van Tassell, annual giving manager at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. She hopes the cozy, welcoming atmosphere they provide makes it a little easier.

Interior decorator and content creator Meghan Gallagher decorated the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia to spread holiday cheer to 150 families. These families spend an average of 15 to 21 days at a time at the house while their children receive medical treatments.
