Passenger and freight rail
The $1 trillion infrastructure bill recently passed in Congress includes about $66 billion in funds for Amtrak.

Power infrastructure
The bipartisan infrastructure bill sets aside $65 billion for upgrades in power grids. It would pay for thousands of miles of "resilient transmission lines," according to the White House, which would be used for the expansion of renewable energy.

Western water protection
More than $50 billion would be used to weatherize water systems in the West against droughts, floods and wildfires, the White House said.

Public transit
$39 billion will be used to modernize public transit systems, the White House says, including improvements to buses, rail cars, tracks and stations, with better access for disabled and elderly users.

Shipping ports
$17 billion would go toward improving port infrastructure, including inland waterway navigation and operations and maintenance, according to the Journal of Commerce. Modernization would allow ports to accommodate larger vessels and ease shipping congestion.

Electric buses and ferries
$7.5 billion would be spent on bus and ferry transportation, with $5 billion going toward zero-emission buses and $2.5 billion for ferries. The goal is to replace diesel buses with "clean" vehicles and reduce pollution.
