Blast from the past: NFL teams in throwback uniforms

Oct. 20, 2019: The Washington Redskins wear a uniform that is a spinoff of what the team wore in the 1930s during a 9-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at FedExField. The Redskins moved to Washington in 1937.

Sept. 29, 2019: The Detroit Lions wear a throwback look that is an ode to the franchise's inaugural season in 1934 during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Ford Field. The Chiefs won the game, 34-30.

Sept. 29, 2019: Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery runs while sporting a throwback inspired from the Bears' 1936 season. The Bears defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 16-6, at Soldier Field.

Sept. 22, 2019: The Green Bay Packers defense celebrates following an interception during a 27-16 win over the Denver Broncos at Lambeau Field. The Packers wore a re-creation of the team's blue-and-gold look from 1937-1948.

Dec. 9, 2018: Kenyan Drake -- sporting the Miami Dolphins' throwback uniform -- runs the ball after a lateral play to score the winning touchdown to defeat the New England Patriots 34-33 at Hard Rock Stadium.

Oct. 28, 2018: Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky throws a pass during a 24-10 win over the New York Jets at Soldier Field. Starting in 2010, the Bears have worn a uniform similar to that of the famous "Monsters of the Midway" of the 1940s.

Oct. 9, 2016: Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell rushes the ball while in the team's "Bumblebee" throwback in a 31-13 win over the New York Jets at Heinz Field. From 2012-16, the Steelers wore this throwback as an homage to the team's first season in 1933, when it was known as the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Nov. 16, 2014: Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers throws a pass during a 53-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field. In 2010-11 and 2013-14 the Packers wore the uniform that honored the franchise's first NFL championship team in 1929.

Nov. 22, 2012: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo looks for an open receiver during a Thanksgiving Day game against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins won the game, 38-31. The Cowboys were wearing uniforms similar to those from the team's first four seasons (1960-63).

Nov. 4, 2012: Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III scrambles during a 21-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers at FedEx Field. The Redskins wore a modernization of the team's 1937 uniforms, including a matted helmet made to look like a modernized leather helmet.

Oct. 21, 2012: Sporting the classic "Pat the Patriot" helmet, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady throws a pass during a 29-26 win over the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium. "Pat the Patriot" has made an appearance in 1994, 2002, and 2009-2012.

Sept. 12, 2010: Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick rolls out against the Green Bay Packers at Lincoln Financial Field. The Packers won the game, 27-20. The Eagles wore throwback uniforms to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 1960 NFL championship team.

Oct. 11, 2009: In their first two seasons of existence (1960-61), the Denver Broncos wore brown-and-yellow uniforms with vertical socks. In 2009, the team resurfaced this look. Here, Brandon Marshall celebrates a touchdown with teammates during a 20-17 win over the New England Patriots at Invesco Field at Mile High.

Oct. 11, 2009: Kansas City Chiefs safety Mike Brown is congratulated by teammates during a 26-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs wore uniforms of the Dallas Texans (1960-62), the franchise's original uniform before moving to Kansas City.

Sept. 27, 2009: In one of the most confusing games in NFL history, the Tennessee Titans -- wearing the original uniforms of the Houston Oilers -- played the New York Jets -- wearing the original uniforms of the New York Titans. The Jets (Titans) defeated the Titans (Oilers), 24-17.

Sept. 23, 2007: Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb prepares to play the Detroit Lions at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles won the game, 56-21, while wearing uniforms designed to replicate the look of the 1934 Philadelphia Eagles.
