Eckert said his neighbor used to joke that his trailer would protect Eckert's if there were ever a big storm. He was partially correct. The neighbor's trailer, pictured, was completely destroyed leaving only the frame, while Eckert's trailer was mostly intact, but gutted and pushed twelve feet inland by the storm surge.

He had just finished cleaning up from Hurricane Helene when Hurricane Milton came along two weeks later and moved his entire trailer, at left, twelve feet inland. His neighbor's trailer was completely destroyed.

There were approximately 80 people in line at this point just to fill gas cans and there was also a long line of cars waiting to fill their cars. One person was heard to say there was a four-hour wait to get gas.

Hebenstreit said he did not get water inside this unit from Hurricane Milton, but two weeks earlier, storm surge from Hurricane Helene did flood the apartment. He added that the sidewalk had just been cleared of sand, in time for Hurricane Milton to cover it again with about 18 inched of sand from the beach.

The tanker driver said he left this morning from Tampa area about 2:30 in the morning to go to Jacksonville to pick up the load because the Port of Tampa was closed. And he was just getting to the gas station at about 3:00 in the afternoon on Thursday.
