Michelle Maltais is Senior Director/Executive Editor for Lifestyles & Financial Wellbeing. In her role, she takes a newsroom lead on new editorial initiatives, experimentation, partnerships and grants. She also oversees Money, Tech, Travel and Wellness, coverage designed to help readers make more of their money, time, health and live their best lives. Michelle joined USA TODAY in 2018 as an editor in Money and Tech, overseeing coverage of retail, food and technology. Prior to joining USA TODAY, she worked for the Los Angeles Times, where she was a copy editor, technology reporter and in various roles including newsroom broadcast executive producer and deputy director of audience engagement. She was part of a team that won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage of the San Bernardino terrorist attack. She holds a BA from Scripps College of the Claremont Colleges in California, and a MS in journalism from Columbia University in New York.
Michelle started her career at USA TODAY Co.'s The Desert Sun in her hometown and is now based in Los Angeles.
