Emily Condon is a general assignment political reporter for USA TODAY based in Washington, D.C. She covers breaking political news in the city and across the country, including elections, the White House, Congress, federal agencies and how policy decisions or ideas resonate with voters across the states. Condon has a particular interest in the intersection of politics and law.
She is a Maryland Terrapin graduate from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, but she comes from a close-knit American-Italian-Irish Catholic family from the northern New Jersey suburbs of New York City.
During her time at the UMD, Condon covered the Maryland delegations at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. She graduated the top undergraduate of the journalism school with a degree in journalism and minor in general business.
Before joining USA TODAY, Condon enjoyed stints at CNN DC, The Washington Post, NBC News and a local television station in Baltimore. From these, she brings skills in reporting, newsgathering, video production, video editing, social media and audience engagement. She hopes to combine this distribution and multimedia expertise with her reporting to meet USA TODAY readers where they are with journalism that informs and engages.
Condon is a proud member of the Society of Professional Journalists' Maryland-Pro chapter, Investigative Reporters & Editors and Video Consortium.
