  • The Tesla Model 3 was named Edmunds.com's Top Rated Electric Car of 2026 for the second consecutive year.
  • Edmunds.com selected the Honda Civic Hybrid as its Top Rated Car for 2026.
  • Other winners included the Ford Maverick for Top Rated Truck and the Rivian R1T for Top Rated Electric Truck.

Tesla's sales are down since the elimination of a $7,500 federal tax credit and since its CEO Elon Musk worked with President DonaldTrump to cut the federal workforce, but one of the company's sedans was recently named the top-rated electric car of 2026 by Edmunds.com.

The site said the Tesla Model 3 is its Top Rated Electric Car of 2026 for the second year in a row because of its "speed, range, comfort, space, tech, accessibility and convenience."

"The Tesla Model 3 might be the best value electric car you can buy, combining an Edmunds Rating of 8.1 out of 10, a starting price of $43,880, and an Edmunds-tested range of 338 miles," the website said. "This is the best Model 3 yet. It is impressively well-rounded thanks to improved build quality, ride comfort, and a compelling combination of efficiency, performance and value."

Jonathan Elfalan, Edmunds director of vehicle testing, said is "a no-brainer if you want a sensible EV."
