The all-new Infiniti QX65 went on sale May 12 at Infiniti retailers across the U.S.

With a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $53,990, Infiniti's new luxury crossover SUV pays homage to the FX, which was last produced in 2013, according to Nissan Americas Regional Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing David M. Johnson.

“The launch of QX65 reflects the momentum behind our product strategy,” Infiniti Americas vice president Eric Ledieau said in a news release. “Our retail network is ready and excited to bring this world class vehicle to their clients.”

Manufactured in Smyrna, the all-new vehicle rolled off the line at the Nissan Vehicle Assembly plant April 16.

'It's truly special'

“Anytime we get to launch a new vehicle, especially one that is the first time that nameplate hits the market, it’s truly special because nobody has ever seen it,” Johnson told The Tennessean on April 16. “It’s not a refresh of a nameplate that’s been around, so you take a lot of pride in bringing that” to market.

When asked what makes this vehicle stand out, Johnson emphasized the vehicle’s design.

“Just take a look at it. It’s sleek. It’s sporty,” Johnson said, pointing to its coupe-like profile with a low, sloped roof.

Nissan forecasted that roughly 60% to 65% of QX65 buyers will be new to the brand.

“It’s a great entry to our brand and allows them to experience what Infiniti has to offer from a luxury viewpoint, reliability, quality, dependability, all of the things that we’re known for as a Japanese manufacturer,” Johnson said.

“I’m confident that once they experience what we have to offer, they’re going to stay with us for a long time.”
