The five EVs you can buy now with the longest range

• The Chevrolet Silverado EV has the longest battery range according to Consumer Reports' real-world testing.

• The Silverado was the only EV tested by Consumer Reports to exceed 400 miles on a single charge.

Rising gas prices have prompted some drivers to give electric cars another look, and one EV in particular sits atop Consumer Reports new rankings of battery ranges: the Chevrolet Silverado.

Consumer Reports said the Chevrolet Silverado had the highest battery range in both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's estimates, which are used on showroom stickers, and it's own real world testing. The group said the Silverado's battery achieved 472 miles before it recharged its highway testing, compared to an EPA estimate of 493 miles.

The Silverado was the only EV that was able to be driven over 400 miles before its battery need to be recharged in Consumer Reports testing.

The finding comes as the average of gas rose to $3.79 per gallon on March 17, up from an average of $3.54 per gallon on a week ago on March 10, according to the AAA Auto Club.

With the uptick in both gas prices and EV interest in mind, the USA TODAY Cars took a look at the Consumer Reports list of the models to identify the ones that had the five longest ranges.
