10 finals week tips from Audrey Hepburn
If exams make you sad and scared and maybe even sob uncontrollably, does it help to know you're not alone?
No?
OK, well, anyway, take some advice from Audrey Hepburn: “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible.’”
If we were to ask her for some other tips, we're sure these would be it:
1. Start studying early

Gather your notecards, PowerPoint presentations, lecture notes, study guides and previous tests ahead of time. Start preparing (at least) a full week before your first exam. Don’t procrastinate -- and definitely don’t Wait Until Dark.
2. Show up for class, so you can do more than pass

Now — more than ever — is the time to pay attention in class. Make an effort to attend every class session (even if you would rather hit the snooze button). You might not dress up in Hepburn's classy duds for that 9 a.m.seminar, but clean off your glasses and go. Think of class as an extended group study session in which you have an enlightened guide.
Bonus tip: Check with your professors first, but most won’t mind if you record their lectures to play back at a later time.
3. Get your beauty sleep

OK, we all know replacing sleep with things like coffee is the norm. (Did someone say, “double-shot espresso?”)
However, try to get a reasonable amount of sleep -- whether it’s catching some z’s at nighttime or finding time to take power naps. A good sleep is rare, but you’ll appreciate the shut-eye when exam time rolls around. A well-rested mind is a powerful asset.
4. Eat breakfast

Just like Hepburn's character Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, find time to grab something quick — even if you can't do it while staring starry-eyed at a Tiffany & Co. storefront in New York City. Not only can a morning meal boost your energy, but it can also help you stay focused.
5. Prepare by purchasing your favorite foods

Breakfast is just the start of it -- we know you'll get crazy midnight cravings while studying. So shop and stock up on your must-haves. And don't forget to satisfy that sweet tooth. As Hepburn herself once said: “Let's face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me.”
6. Rock some red lipstick and a fresh outlook

So, those of you who wear lipstick, find a complementary bold, fresh shade to offset your "scholarly" complexion; it'll help make you feel confident.
7. Come exam time, keep things classy

Showing up for your exam in pajamas or sweats is not the greatest idea. Choose a power outfit and walk in with confidence. You’ll feel better and (hopefully) your confidence will result in a higher grade.
8. Put on that vinyl and take a dance break

Good news — your dorm room carpet can double as a dance floor. Grab some friends and have a mini dance session or two. Take quick cardio breaks to help restore energy as you sweat off some stress.
9. Surround yourself with friends

Hitting the books hard means you may be diagnosed with a case of academic-overload. The good news: laughter is one of the best medicines.
Take a study break and spend some quality time with people you love -- whether you go on an adventurous hike or take a brain break with a healthy dose of Netflix.
10. Find what works for you

Everyone has different learning styles and study methods. Some learn best by writing, while others like to read. Maybe you’re the type who loves listening to classical music, while your roommate transforms a study guide into a catchy song. Find what works for you and stick with it!
