Two candidates are vying for Wisconsin's 24th Assembly District seat of the state Legislature in the Nov. 3, 2026, election.

Republican incumbent Dan Knodl faces a challenge from Democratic candidate Matt Brown.

As a challenger, Brown said to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he describes himself as "fiscally conservative and socially progressive."

“I feel I have to live within my budget and live within my means, and I believe the government should do the same,” he said.

“My proposal is to raise the minimum wage by 10% every year for five years and then raise the minimum wage to the rate of inflation every year after that," Brown added. "I think I can make a positive difference and a perspective other than my opponent. He is a career politician, and we need different perspectives. I will vote on my principles over party."

Knodl pointed out to the Journal Sentinel the success he has had in working with current Gov. Tony Evers and former Gov. Scott Walker in getting bills signed into law. He said he is running to address three areas of concern: public safety, education and taxes.

For public safety, he said he authored bills to address reckless driving and, according to his campaign website, he wants to protect the police departments from efforts to defund them, make sure domestic abusers are held accountable and that he helped pass a bill to keep firearms out of the hands of violent criminals.

"We need to see that a proper curriculum is in place to address reading and math scores and lower the overall tax burden," he said. Knodl said if the tax burden is lower for people, it will put more dollars in taxpayers' pockets.

Assembly 24 District is in southeastern Wisconsin as the district includes parts of southeast Washington County and northeast Waukesha County. It includes the villages of Menomonee Falls and Lannon and the southern half of the village of Germantown.
