Prince Andrew's accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, says the period during which she was at the hands of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein "was a really scary time."

Giuffre, 35, who spoke to the BBC for an upcoming hour-long special, has said she was forced by Epstein to have sex with his friend, Andrew, when she was just 17.

The prince "categorically" denies having any sexual contact with her, and Buckingham Palace has called the allegations "false and without any foundation."

But Giuffre told the BBC, "He knows what happened, I know what happened. And there's only one of us telling the truth."

Prince Andrew said in a BBC interview earlier this month that he has "no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever." Since then, the prince has faced continuing controversy, and he announced last week he is stepping away from his royal duties "for the foreseeable future."

Giuffre's comments are part of a larger BBC investigation into Prince Andrew's ties to Epstein. It airs Monday in the U.K.
