Amy Schumer quips at weight-loss transformation after new photo earns praise

Updated Oct. 7, 2025, 7:34 p.m. ET

Amy Schumer is feeling good in her skin, and she knows you know it.

In true comic fashion, the Emmy-winning actress and comedian, 44, playfully addressed her weight-loss transformation after receiving praise for her slimmer figure on social media.

Schumer shared a photo of herself on Instagram in an Oct. 4 post, which showed the "Life & Beth" star posing with friends Alex Saks and Jillian Bell. In the photo, Schumer donned a chic black button-down minidress with matching high heels.

The outfit earned Schumer several compliments from her celebrity pals, including fellow comic Kathy Griffin, who wrote: "I'm so pissed about your legs, I can barely talk to you. 😍"

"OK, legs for days!!🔥🔥❤️," wrote "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Margaret Josephs.

"You look incredible. Look at those pins!!!" Amy Sedaris added.

Schumer later took a moment to appreciate the compliments, writing in an Oct. 5 comment, "Loving the love. My legs thank you!"

What has Amy Schumer said about weight loss, body image?

Schumer's health journey hasn't been the smoothest ride.

During a January appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, the outspoken comedian, who has Cushing syndrome, opened up about how online scrutiny of her facial appearance unwittingly led to a diagnosis. "Doctors were chiming in in the comments, and they were, like, 'No, no … something's really up. Your face looks so crazy,'" she recalled.

According to Mayo Clinic, Cushing syndrome "happens when the body has too much of the hormone cortisol for a long time," which can cause "moon face," or a puffy appearance.

Amid the scrutiny, Schumer called out social media critics for their remarks on her physical appearance, writing in a February 2024 Instagram post: "Thank you so much for everyone's input about my face! I've enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years."

Amy Schumer attends the "Bunny" premiere during the 2025 Tribeca Festival at Village East Cinema in New York City on June 14, 2025.

Schumer has also been candid about her weight-loss journey, revealing to Chelsea Handler in a March 2022 interview that she underwent liposuction after struggling with the effects of endometriosis and a Cesarean section.

Per Mayo Clinic, liposuction is a type of surgery that uses suction to "remove fat from specific areas of the body, such as the stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms or neck." It is not widely considered a weight-loss alternative.

"I just wanted to say that because if anybody sees me in pictures or anything and they're like, she looks thinner, and whatever: It's because I had a surgery," Schumer told Handler. "It's too hard, and I just want to be real about it."
