Keith Urban addresses lyric changes amid Nicole Kidman divorce, slams speculation
Keith Urban is setting the record straight after fans analyzed his lyric swaps post-Nicole Kidman split.
The country star slammed overspeculation into recent lyric changes of his hit tracks during live performances.
"This song, I've sang it this way a long time. Stop reading … into it," Urban said of his lyric change to "You'll Think of Me" at the final stop of his High and Alive World Tour in Nashville on Oct. 17, drawing a thunderous roar.
The country star has been drawing heat online, with some dubbing his theatrical performances of "You'll Think of Me" during the tour as "crash-outs."
In his Oct. 17 performance, Urban once again changed the lyrics from "but you'll think of me," instead shouting, "but I bet you think about me," as seen in social media video.

The comments also come after speculation about the crooner changing the lyrics to his song "The Fighter," written about Kidman, 58. In a performance earlier in the tour, Urban's utility player and country singer Maggie Baugh posted a clip of him singing, "When they're tryna get to you, Maggie, I'll be your guitar player" instead of "When they're tryna get to you, baby, I'll be the fighter."
Alexandra Kay shuts down Maggie Baugh, Keith Urban romance rumors
Country singer Alexandra Kay has dismissed rumors of a romance between her friend Baugh and Urban.
"Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say," Kay told Taste of Country in an interview published Wednesday, Oct. 22. "They're like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I'm like, 'She's a good friend of mine and I know that's absolutely not true.'"
She continued: "I've met her boyfriend, and she's very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole (Kidman and Urban) relationship."
The "Best Worst Ex" singer said she feels sad for everybody involved, as their personal lives are being picked apart, and said she prays "peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy."

Following news of Urban, 57, and Kidman's divorce filing in late September, fans took to social media to criticize the alternate lyric, suggesting it was dismissive of Urban's relationship with the Oscar-winning actress.
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on Sept. 30, according to records from Tennessee's Davidson County Circuit Court reviewed by USA TODAY. The filing came one day after news of the couple's separation became public, after nearly 20 years of marriage.
