William Rush, 'Waterloo Road' star and Debbie Rush's son, dies at 31

British actor William Rush, best known for his long-running role on the 2000s teen drama "Waterloo Road," has died. He was 31.
Rush died on Wednesday, Dec. 17, Rush's mother, British actress Debbie Rush, revealed in an emotional Instagram post on Thursday. A cause of death was not disclosed.
"As a family, our hearts are completely broken, and there are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss," Debbie Rush wrote alongside a photo of her son. "We kindly ask that our privacy be respected as we navigate this unimaginable grief. William will always be loved, always missed, and forever in our hearts."
While no details on Rush's condition were given, Debbie Rush shared that the young actor was an organ donor, adding: "He has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end. His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy."
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for William and Debbie Rush for comment.
Following in his mother's artistic footsteps, Rush attended the Manchester School of Acting, where he honed his thespian chops.
In the late 2000s, Rush scored guest roles on the TV shows "Grange Hill," "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and "The Street" before landing a series regular gig on "Waterloo Road," a teen drama that follows the lives of students at the eponymous school.
Rush played Josh Stevenson on the BBC series over the course of 70 episodes from 2009-2013.
In 2014, Rush appeared on an episode of the iconic British soap opera "Coronation Street," which his mother Debbie Rush starred on.
The actor also tried his hand at music. Rush auditioned for the 13th season of the British "X Factor" in 2016, advancing to the six-chair challenge stage of the reality competition.
Rush's final TV performance was a 2017 starring role in the drama mini-series "Friday on My Mind," according to the actor's IMDb page.
