The search for Savannah Guthrie's missing mother, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, continues as Arizona officials say they "hope" they're searching for someone who's still alive.

After news broke on Monday, Feb. 2, that Guthrie's mother had disappeared, the Pima County Sheriff's Department in Arizona held a press conference Tuesday to give an update on the case.

Speaking to reporters, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said his office is aggressively pursuing "hundreds of leads" in the Nancy Guthrie case and reiterated that "we do believe that Nancy was taken from her home against her will."

During the Feb. 3 press conference, Nanos was asked whether officials believe they are looking for someone who is still alive. "We hope we are," he replied.

Officials previously said that Guthrie requires daily medication and that it "could be fatal" if she doesn't receive it.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department in southern Arizona confirmed Monday that Nancy "didn't just walk out" of her home, which is being considered a crime scene. "We don't know where she is," Nanos said Tuesday, noting police are starting the investigation from where she was last seen and fanning out from there.

Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie "was taken" from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, after receiving a 911 call reporting she was missing around noon local time on Sunday, Feb. 1. Nanos noted Guthrie has limited mobility and "couldn't walk 50 yards by herself."

On Monday evening, Guthrie asks fans to pray for her mother in a statement shared on Instagram. "We believe in prayer," she wrote. "We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity … Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant."

FBI 'aggressively' pursuing leads in Nancy Guthrie case

During the Tuesday presser, Jon Edwards, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI's office in Tucson, said the FBI is providing the sheriff's office with support in the case.

The FBI, Edwards said, is "downloading and analyzing cell phones, obtaining cell tower information, conducting interviews" and providing additional investigative support.

"We are looking at this from every angle, but we need your help," he said, adding, "Every lead and tip is important. We are aggressively pursuing and looking into every single one."

Reward offered for information in Nancy Guthrie's disappearance

The Pima County Sheriff's Department said Monday it is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

"Any video and photograph information is strongly requested for evaluation and analysis of evidentiary value," the department said. Anyone with information can call (520) 882-7463.
