Hilary Duff offers cryptic comment on rift with sister Haylie
Anna KaufmanHilary Duff is opening up about the complicated relationship she shares with her sister, and former costar, Haylie Duff.
In a new interview with Glamour, Duff, 38, addressed why she wrote about her family on "Luck... or Something," a much-anticipated return to the studio dropping Feb. 20. The album, Duff's first in over 10 years, has already begun to generate buzz with several popular singles.
"That's my family. Those are the people that affect you the most, take up the most space naturally as a human who's born into something," she told the outlet. According to Glamour, "We Don't Talk," a song pulled from the not-yet-released track list, seems to delve into the rift between her and her "Material Girls" costar, characterizing their conflict as "emotional eviction."

"Just because you're born into a family doesn't mean that it always stays together. You can only control your side and your street," Duff told Glamour. "I've had a very complicated life, and my parents had a very complicated thing. I know it's not rare, and I think it goes back to the theme of, 'Why share now?' I guess I just felt ready."
For their part, Duff's fans are just as ready as she is. Millennials who fell in love with her during her "Lizzy Maguire" years have shown a groundswell of support for her latest musical endeavor.
After a weekend of sold-out shows at Voltaire at The Venetian in Las Vegas and a return May 22-24, Duff is slated to hit amphitheaters and arenas in June for The Lucky Me Tour, her first world outing in nearly 20 years.

The two singles already released – "Roommates," out earlier this month, and "Mature," out late last year – tease an album that showcases Duff in all her grown-up glory. The songs chronicle an age-gap relationship and a couple on the brink of losing one another, each with a more steamy and adult sound than her Disney days.
Duff's return to music will be supplemented by an untitled docuseries from "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" director Sam Wrench. A release date and platform for the series have yet to be announced.
