Jenna Bush Hager 'cannot believe' she's the mother of a teenager
Jenna Bush Hager is now the mother of a teenage daughter, a feat she recently celebrated with her "Today" show co-host and over 1.5 million Instagram followers.
Hager, thegranddaughter of the 41st U.S. president, George H. W. Bush, and former first lady Barbara Bush, shared a photo on her Instagram stories on Monday, April 13, of her hugging her now-13-year-old daughter, Mila, with the caption “Happiest birthday to my dream girl.”
The 44-year-old author and journalist reflected on how quickly her daughter has grown up during Monday's episode of "Today with Jenna & Sheinelle".
“That little person turns 13 years old today, which I cannot believe,” Jenna said on "Today".
Co-host Sheinelle Jones joined in on the birthday celebration, telling Hager, “You officially have a teenager."

Jenna Hager recalls going into labor at her baby shower
Hager also posted a picture of a newborn Mila on her Instagram stories with the caption, “How was this day — that made me a mama — 13 years ago?” She added a video of her having a tender moment with baby Mila.
Reminscing didn't stop there, as Hager, a mother of three, recalled how she went into labor with Mila at her baby shower, about three weeks before she was due.
“All of a sudden my water burst and everyone had different reactions,” Hager said on "Today". “There was one man who was the caterer, he just threw a paper towel roll and walked out the door."
She added, "People that were pregnant there started crying out of fear."
Mila is becoming 'her own person,' Hager says
Jones, who is already the mother of two teenagers, as her twins, Clara and Uche, turned 13 in July 2025, empathized with Hager.
“I’m a few months in,” Sheinelle said about her twins becoming teens. “You know what it is, they become their own people. Over the years, if I tell you ‘Wear this,’ and they just put it on. You’re finally at an age where … Clara wears what she wants.”
In response to her co-host, Hager said, "If I told Mila Hager what to wear, she would laugh at me."
Hager also spoke about how Mila is becoming her own person, separating herself from her younger sister, Poppy, 10, and brother, Hal, 6.
“I think we hit that she’s her own person,” Hager said. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh, she’s going to go trick-or-treating with her friends, I’m not going to be in her memories, all of them,’ and that’s good.”
And what will be Mila's reaction to hearing her mother talk about her birthday on live TV? Hager joked, "She’s going to love that I talked about it on the show."
