Ruby Rose details alleged Katy Perry incident in resurfaced article

Ruby Rose's allegations that Katy Perry sexually assaulted her at an Australian nightclub in her 20s have led to a police investigation against the pop star.

Ruby Rose is making waves with her allegations about Katy Perry, but this isn't the first time she's spoken about her history with the pop star.

The Australian actress, who accused Perry on social media of sexually assaulting her over a decade ago, wrote about the alleged incident in a 2011 article for online newspaper News.com.au, according to the publication's sister outlet, Herald Sun.

On April 12, Rose alleged in a series of Threads posts that the Grammy-nominated pop star assaulted her at an Australian nightclub when she was in her 20s. A representative for Perry has since denied the allegations, calling Rose's claims "dangerous reckless lies."

"I was only in my early 20s. I'm now 40. It has taken almost two decades to say this publicly," Rose wrote at the time. "Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me."

Ruby Rose attends the 2019 Australians in Film Awards at InterContinental Los Angeles Century City on Oct. 23, 2019.

Rose's comments have led to a police investigation of the alleged incident in Australia, Victoria Police previously confirmed to USA TODAY. No formal charges have been filed in the case.

In the News.com.au article, the "Orange is the New Black" alum shared that she stopped drinking alcohol after a debaucherous night out with Perry.

"I spectacularly lost dignity [and keys] one night not too long ago. Remember when Katy Perry and I crashed the year 12 formal? I don't," Rose wrote, per the Herald Sun. "I had been off the grog for 30 days — my first attempt at sobriety — and I was out partying with Katy."

She continued: "What I do remember thinking was: 'I'll have a drink tonight, I deserve one. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? Well, not stopping at one drink, or 10, and then vomiting on Katy's foot was the answer."

Rose does not mention any incidents of sexual misconduct occurring in the article, per the Herald Sun. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Rose and Perry for comment.

Despite Rose's physical illness during the alleged outing, the actress described the experience as a wake-up call for her sobriety journey.

"Before you jump to conclusions, nothing horrific happened, nor have I been hit with a DUI," Rose wrote. "But I just had enough, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life."

The owner of Spice Market, where Rose alleges the incident with Perry took place, reflected on the pair's club appearance in an interview with the Herald Sun published April 14. The owner told the outlet he was "not aware of any alleged assault or someone vomiting," although he noted Rose and Perry's inebriated state.

"They were drunk. They weren't paralytic, or anything, and just like any other person drinking at a nightclub," the Spice Market owner said. At the time of their exit, "we escorted them out the back and up the fire exit and put them in the car together."

In a statement provided to USA TODAY on Monday, a representative for Perry said Rose's allegations of assault are "dangerous" and "reckless."

"The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies," Perry's rep said. "Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."
