April 28, 2026Updated April 29, 2026, 12:15 p.m. ET

During King Charles III's historic four-day state visit to the United States, eyes were on the fashion of Queen Camilla and first lady Melania Trump, who matched colors for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, April 28.

Melania Trump embraced a Christian Dior Haute Couture look, wearing a pale pink silk strapless gown paired with off-white Dior suede gloves at the White House state dinner on Tuesday night, according to a White House pool report.

The queen opted for a darker pink shade for her Fiona Clare gown that accentuated her audacious amethyst-and-diamond necklace and matching earrings, according to GB News and The Daily Mail.

The two matched in all-white looks on April 27 when the royal couple arrived for their first U.S. visit since Charles became king.

Melania Trump wore a two-piece Ralph Lauren set and Manolo heels, accompanied by a wide-brimmed straw hat that undoubtably became the look's centerpiece. She previously wore a similar headpiece with a polarizing black Eric Javits hat at her husband's 2025 inauguration.

Meanwhile, Camilla also followed suit with her own wide-brimmed tilt hat over a long-sleeved gown and a Cullinan V Brooch, an historic piece courtesy of Queen Mary, according to Women's Wear Daily.

King Charles III, Queen Camilla to celebrate 'modern bilateral relationship' with US

Before the 8 p.m. ET dinner, King Charles III and Queen Camilla were scheduled to take a private tour of the White House residence, a document viewing and a receiving line. Earlier in the day, the king gave a rare address to a joint session of Congress, addressing the strained but enduring relationship between his country and the U.S.

The royals' visit with President Donald Trump and the first lady marks the couple's first U.S. visit since King Charles III ascended the British throne in 2022, immediately after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

Trump visited Britain in September for his second state visit, years after his last one in 2019 during his first White House term.

The palace said in a statement that King Charles III will "celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States." The royal couple will stay in the United States through April 30 as they honor the 250th anniversary of America's independence from Great Britain.

Queen Elizabeth II made four state visits to the United States during her reign: in 1957, 1976, 1991 and 2007. Charles also visited the United States 19 times as Prince of Wales, according to Buckingham Palace.
