Amy Schumer reveals 'botched colonoscopy'

Amy Schumer is opening up about how she's feeling after a routine medical procedure apparently went wrong.

The 44-year-old "Trainwreck" star spoke with "Not Skinny But Not Fat" host Amanda Hirsch during a surprise appearance at a Dear Media event May 17 about feeling "happier than I've ever been before," according to Us Weekly and E! News. However, Schumer admitted that she's also been experiencing some struggles.

"I actually had kind of a botched colonoscopy, so I'm not feeling very sexual," she reportedly told Hirsch.

Schumer, who filed for an uncontested divorce with her husband of seven years, Chris Fischer, in January, reportedly didn't share any further details.

According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, a physician "will recommend screening for colorectal cancer starting at age 45 if you don't have health problems or risk factors that make you more likely to develop colorectal cancer."

Schumer, whose comedy often relies on a "too-much-information on purpose" sensibility, has not shied away in the past from sharing her health struggles with fans. In January 2025, the comedian shared that she had been diagnosed with Cushing syndrome.

In an interview with "Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper, Schumer said internet trolls had partly helped her find out something might be off with her health. Online haters were commenting about her swollen face – a telltale sign of the hormonal disorder.

Cushing syndrome is an uncommon condition when the body has too much cortisol, Dr. Divya Yogi-Morren, medical director of the pituitary center at the Cleveland Clinic, previously told USA TODAY. Cortisol, known as the "stress hormone," influences how the body handles stress and plays a vital role in keeping the body healthy.

In September 2021, more than two years after she gave birth to her and ex-husband Chris Fischer's son, Gene, Schumer underwent surgery to address her endometriosis symptoms. She shared on Instagram that both her uterus and appendix were removed during the procedure due to the aggressive nature of her case.
