Jelly Roll has some reflections on weight loss as he nears a new milestone.

During a live taping of the "2 Bears, 1 Cave" podcast at the Two Bears 5K during Netflix Is A Joke Fest, Jelly Roll jokes about his fitness journey, which in a way culminated at the annual 5K years prior.

Podcast hosts and comedians Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura noted that Jelly Roll completed the 5K two years ago, when they estimated he weighed over 500 pounds. Now, at the most recent 5K in May, the "Save Me" singer weighed "anywhere between 250 and 270."

The rapper, 41, said he's down "almost 300 pounds" from his highest weight, laughing that he used to count staircases and research chairs at restaurants and venues to avoid situations where his weight would be an issue and would have "nightmares" about airport bathrooms. Now, he jokes, he can bend over to tie his shoes, buy jeans at the mall and ride roller coasters.

He went on to explain that the 2 Bears 5K became a "godsend" for him. He said without the 5K, "I don't think I'd be here."

"The way I was drinking, there was no way a man was drinking a liter of tequila a day and 500 pounds, and I was gonna live much longer. I didn't have another 30 months of living like that in me," he said on the May 18 episode. "When y'all announced this, it was a godsend."

He joked that he thought if Kreischer did it, he surely could.

"Bert Kreischer is like everyman. There is nothing actually special about Bert at all," he said, laughing, as Kreischer snorted in amusement.

In April 2024, the "Bloodline" singer revealed that he had lost around 70 pounds in preparation for that year's 5K. He has been on a consistent weight loss journey since then, though it hasn't always been straightforward.

In April, the "I Am Not Okay" singer opened up about facing weight loss setbacks after the holidays and a collarbone injury late last year, revealing that he weighed in at 276.2 pounds after a lengthy time avoiding the scale. "So we're up 12 pounds," he said in a YouTube vlog uploaded on April 17, compared to his pre-holiday weight.

But the singer is in a good place, even joking about the excessive skin from his weight loss in his recent Netflix Is a Joke Fest comedy debut.

"It's been ruining my tattoos," he said on stage at Los Angeles' Greek Theater May 8. "I had Jesus on a cross tattooed on my back. Now it just looks like the bad guy from 'Scream.' It looks as if Jesus was on a hit of acid now."
