Raising Cane's serves only chicken finger meals. 'It's our one love'

Raising Cane's describes itself as "a restaurant that only serves chicken fingers." It was a "business plan (that) received the lowest grade in a college class because the professor said it wouldn't work."

"Raising Cane’s has ONE LOVE — quality chicken finger meals, and we serve them better than anyone else."

The first Raising Cane opened Aug. 28, 1996, in an old building at the North Gates of Louisiana State University. It's headquarters are located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

What else does Raising Cane's have on its menu?

Raising Cane's has a variety of combo meals on its menu, along with "Tailgates" that go up to 100 chicken fingers.

"Extras" include:

  • More chicken fingers
  • Crinkle-cut fries
  • Cane's sauce
  • Texas toast
  • Coleslaw
  • A sandwich (chicken, of course)

Raising Cane's named after founder's dog

Founder and CEO Todd Graves "originally planned to call the restaurant 'Sockeye’s' as a tribute to his time in Alaska" saving money to open his first location.

"Instead, he takes a friend’s advice and names it after his Labrador retriever, Raising Cane, who frequented the construction site" of the first restaurant in Louisiana.

It's Raising Cane's, not raising Cain. See the difference

Raising Cane's is the chicken-finger-focused restaurant named after the founder's dog.

Raising Cain is an expression meaning to cause a disturbance or a commotion.

The idiom can be traced back to the Bible, referring to Cain, the firstborn son of Adam and Eve who killed his brother, Abel, according to GotQuestions.org.
