These 3 Phoenix restaurants featured on iconic Gordon Ramsay TV shows
Gordon Ramsay is a celebrity chef, yes. But he's almost more popular for his yelling and antics than he is for his cooking. On his multiple TV shows like "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares," he has earned himself a reputation for using tough love to whip chefs and restaurants into shape.
Several Phoenix restaurateurs have found themselves on the receiving end of that tough love over the years, including an infamous bakery featured in one of the most iconic episodes of "Kitchen Nightmares" ever filmed.
Sometimes, his appearances have helped struggling restaurants earn back the trust of customers. Other times, the negative attention has only added fuel to the fire and led restaurants to face new challenges in the wake of the episode. But it's hard to deny that it's consistently made for good TV.
Here are three iconic metro Phoenix restaurants that Gordon Ramsay has visited on his shows.
Amy's Baking Company
The 2012 "Kitchen Nightmares" episode about Amy's Baking Company will go down in history as one of the most chaotic episodes of television that Ramsay has ever filmed. He said so himself in a recent TikTok video by Deadline.
"I've been fortunate to work with so many contributors. But I think one that always sticks in my mind is Amy's Baking Company, a bakery that was fascinating, it was demanding, it was tough for all the wrong reasons. So, suddenly I got asked to leave, and I'll be honest with you. I couldn't wait to get the (expletive) out of there," Ramsay told Deadline.
The infamous "Kitchen Nightmares" episode involved shouting, expletives, meowing and even threats with a knife. The restaurant closed in 2015 and the owners moved back to Israel.

Caffe Boa
In 2025, Ramsay visited Phoenix restaurant Caffe Boa for episode 2 of his newest show, "Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service." The show follows Ramsay as he goes undercover at various struggling restaurants and attempts to "save" them by way of renovations to the building and menu as well as addressing conflicts within the staff.
Ramsay visited Caffe Boa in Ahwatukee, where he filmed an episode that was as much a makeover of the restaurant as it was an intervention for owner Patrick Larson, who was shown in the episode making mean-spirited comments about his staff and his wife.
While the episode ended on a positive note, the fallout affected a Tempe restaurant with the same name, causing Caffe Boa Tempe to receive a flurry of unwarranted hate comments online from viewers who were offended by Larson's actions in the episode.
Both Caffe Boa locations in Tempe and Ahwatukee were originally opened by the same owners in the early '90s. But in 1996, the original partners had a falling out and split the two locations. The Tempe restaurant is owned by Jessalyn Italiano and Zachary Powell.
Mrs. White's Golden Rule Cafe
On another episode of "Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service," the celebrity chef visited longtime Phoenix icon Mrs. White’s Golden Rule Cafe.
The episode highlighted problems with the restaurant's physical location such as a deteriorating building, peeling countertops and a broken oven. It also makes a villain out of Mrs. White's son, Larry, who has taken over as the owner of the restaurant.
The main character of the episode is Larry's daughter, Kianna White, who was given the role of the "insider" who relayed information about the restaurant's problems to Ramsay. Kianna told The Republic she was originally unhappy with the whole situation, but softened up when she got the impression that Ramsay genuinely wanted to help.
Ramsay also shared a touching moment with the 102-year-old Mrs. White and expressed his admiration for her and her legacy.
