Michael B. Jordan takes his Oscar to In-N-Out, fans erupt

The hottest place to be after the Academy Awards isn't the Vanity Fair Oscar party. It's In-N-Out.

"Sinners" star Michael B. Jordan was spotted swinging by the fast food restaurant after his big win Sunday, March 15, at the Academy Awards, where he received the Oscar for best actor.

In videos shared on social media, Jordan, 39, was seen holding his Oscar at In-N-Out and posing for photos while fans cheered him on.

Visiting In-N-Out after an awards show has become a tradition in recent years for stars who come away from the ceremony hungry and in need of some comfort food. In 2024, Paul Giamatti went viral after he was photographed eating at In-N-Out after the Golden Globes, still dressed in his tuxedo and with his golden statue casually placed on the table, surrounded by burgers and sodas.

Also in 2024, Jamie Lee Curtis shared photos of herself picking up In-N-Out after she presented best supporting actress at the Oscars to Da'Vine Joy Randolph.

"The award show tradition is In-N-Out after the show," four-time Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel previously told People. "And I think part of why is because when people are in L.A., one of the things on their list is to go to In-N-Out — and there are a lot of people that are in L.A. just for the Oscars — so they wind up going."

"Also, you get very hungry, so In-N-Out is definitely the award show tradition," he added. "Nothing against McDonald's, but on award show night, it's In-N-Out."

The tradition has become so widespread that it was even spoofed in a promo for the Oscars in 2024. In the skit, Ryan Gosling held an In-N-Out to-go bag and cup and said that there's "this cool social media trend where you get it before the Oscars," only for Kimmel, the host of that year's show, to point out, "Actually, I think the trend is to have In-N-Out after the Oscars, actually after you've won the Oscar."

Jordan won the first Oscar of his career for "Sinners" in a competitive best actor race, which pitted him against Leonardo DiCaprio for "One Battle After Another" and Timothée Chalamet for "Marty Supreme."

"Sinners," the vampire movie that features Jordan in dual roles as a pair of twins, went into the Oscars with a record 16 nominations and won four awards, including best original screenplay for Jordan's longtime collaborator Ryan Coogler. Autumn Durald Arkapaw also became the first woman to win the best cinematography Oscar for her work on the movie.

Michael B. Jordan attends the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Los Angeles on March 15, 2026.

"I stand here because of the people that came before me: Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, Will Smith," Jordan said in his best actor speech. "To be amongst those giants, amongst those greats, amongst my ancestors, amongst my guys. Thank you, everybody in this room, and everybody at home, for supporting me over my career. I feel it."
