Sean Connery originated the role in the films, based on British novelist Ian Fleming's fictional character from his spy novels, in 1962's "Dr. No." Connery's run, which ended with "Diamonds Are Forever" in 1971, was followed by David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Brosnan and finally Craig.
