Grogu wins the red carpet at 'Mandalorian' movie premiere, no Force needed
Bryan AlexanderLOS ANGELES — One star truly went into lightspeed at Hollywood's "The Mandalorian and Grogu" premiere on May 14.
Grogu, aka Baby Yoda, made a stunning movie red carpet premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The animatronic creation adorably stole the spotlight from the Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, as well as other human collaborators like Sigourney Weaver (Colonel Ward) and director Jon Favreau (who managed to score a red carpet photo opportunity with the rising lime-green superstar).
Wearing a tasteful, monk-like robe in muted camel, Grogu was ceremoniously carried to a waiting bank of red carpet photographers. Jaded Hollywood carpet pros were instantly captivated by regal waves of his three-fingered hands, a quick show of the Force push (no photographer was dislodged), some major ear wiggling, and unmistakable wide-eyed wonder.

The infant even accepted USA TODAY's shouted request for a smile, ending the encounter on the de-light side of the Force before being rushed into the theater for the show.
Jon Favreau celebrates 'Star Wars' universe in Hollywood theater where 'it all began'
Speaking inside, Favreau pointed out that 49 years ago, "to the month, 'Star Wars' started here." The universe-expanding sci-fi action movie, directed and created by George Lucas, premiered in May 1977 at the famed Hollywood theater, then called Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

"This is where it all began," Favreau, 59, said of the film. "We're still telling 'Star Wars' stories. The baton has been passed onto other filmmakers. But here we are."
