Live Nation reveals reason for canceling Shakira, Jason Aldean Boston concerts
Shakira's Boston concert set for Thursday, May 29 was abruptly canceled just hours before showtime due to "unforeseen circumstances," according to Fenway Park.
Officials with stadium canceled back to back shows including the "Whenever, Wherever" singer's May 29 concert as well as a May 30 performance by country music star Jason Aldean and duo Brooks & Dunn. Shakira's show was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour continuing in the U.S. through June.
"Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologize for the inconvenience," Fenway Park wrote in a statement shared on social media.
While no explanation was provided on social media, the cancelations were due to issues discovered during routine checks before the Shakira show, Live Nation confirmed in a statement to USA TODAY.
"Structural elements were identified as not being up to standard, so the shows were canceled. All team members are safe," the statement reads.
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Shakira, Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn for comment.

Ticket holders outraged by last minute cancelation
Users commented on the stadium's Instagram and X posts to express frustration and confusion.
"How do two different shows get canceled so close to showtime?" one Instagram user wrote.
Another Instagram user said ticket refunds were not enough urging the park to reimburse fans for collateral damages, writing, "this is absolute crap!"
On X, a user expressed frustration with the lack of an explanation for the cancelation, writing, "And what was the reason? The show starts in 2 hours. At least put up a more elaborate explanation this is insane."
