Demi Lovato postpones tour, cancels 5 concerts after health concerns

Demi Lovato is making some changes to their highly anticipated comeback tour.

The Grammy-nominated pop star, who was set to begin their It's Not That Deep Tour on April 8 in North Carolina, revealed in a social media announcement that the tour's kickoff has been pushed back to April 13 in Orlando, Florida, along with a series of show cancellations.

In a lengthy Instagram story post shared on Feb. 10, Lovato said while they are "so excited to get back on stage this year" and visit "as many cities as I can," the singer made the schedule changes to focus on preserving their health ahead of the tour.

"While starting to prepare for the tour, I realized that I have overextended what may be possible," Lovato, 33, wrote. The tour was originally scheduled to visit 23 cities across North America.

"To protect my health and ensure I can give you my all at each show, I need to build in more time to rest and rehearse and ultimately adjust to a schedule with some more time off that will allow me to handle the entire run of the tour," Lovato continued.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Lovato and Live Nation for comment.

The It's Not That Deep Tour, which is set to run through May 25, marks Lovato's first headlining act since 2022's Holy Fv-- Tour and is in support of the singer's latest album, "It's Not That Deep."

The dance-pop album, released in October, topped Billboard's Top Dance Albums chart and peaked at No. 9 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.

Lovato shared that upcoming concerts in Charlotte, North Carolina (April 8); Atlanta (April 12); Nashville, Tennessee (April 14); Denver (May 5); and Las Vegas (May 8) have been scrapped from the tour.

"I am so sad to say that I will no longer be able to see you on this tour, and I am so sorry to those who planned to be there," Lovato wrote in a Feb. 10 Instagram story.

Fans who purchased tickets for the canceled shows through Ticketmaster or AXS will be automatically refunded, the singer added. However, concertgoers who bought tickets via third-party retailers will have to reach out to their "point of purchase."

For the rescheduled Orlando, Florida, concert, tickets previously purchased will be honored for the new date (April 13), according to Lovato's post. Additional tickets are available for purchase via the singer's official website.

"I am so excited for this tour and am looking forward to seeing so many of your faces singing with me!" Lovato concluded. "Thank you for your support always. I love you, and I cannot wait to see you soon."

Demi Lovato previously canceled tours for health issues

This isn't the first time Lovato has paused touring to prioritize health.

In 2010, the Disney Channel alum pulled out of their supporting act gig on the Jonas Brothers' Live in Concert tour after an altercation with a dancer led to Lovato seeking treatment for mental health issues.

Similarly, in 2018, the pop star canceled the final leg of their Tell Me You Love Me World Tour after being hospitalized for a drug overdose and subsequently entering rehabilitation.
