School's almost back in session at "Abbott Elementary."

The Emmy Award-winning workplace dramedy, now in its fifth season, returns Wednesday, Oct. 1, on ABC.

Created by Quinta Brunson, "Abbott Elementary" chronicles the antics and misadventures of "a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal" working at an underfunded school in Philadelphia.

Season 5 of "Abbott Elementary" picks up with Janine (Brunson) and her coworkers preparing for the upcoming school year.

According to ABC, "new faces and big changes are on the horizon" for the Abbott community.

"Attention: I have a very important update regarding our school," Ava, aka Principal Coleman (to some), tells Abbott faculty in the official trailer. "Since there aren't enough second graders for two classes, Ms. Teagues will now have 40 students. I, for one, am excited to see if it will break her."

"It won't," Janine tells Ava. "It might," she says to her boyfriend and fellow teacher Gregory (Tyler James Williams).
