'His & Hers' ending stuns viewers. What to know about the Netflix show

The ending to "His & Hers" left some viewers in a state of confusion in the best way.

In the days after the show dropped on Netflix on Jan. 8, viewers couldn't help but take to social media to bask in their own bewilderment at the plot twist that unfolds minutes before the final episode concludes.

"Me choosing a new murder suspect every episode in His & Hers on Netflix just to be caught all the way off guard in the final few minutes," Emani Payne wrote in a Jan. 8 X post. "Whew, now that’s how you do a plot twist."

Based on Alice Feeney'snovel of the same name, the six-episode murder mystery series charts the complex histories of estranged spouses Anna (Tessa Thompson) and Jack (Jon Bernthal) after a grisly murder sends shockwaves through their small town.

After living in "haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor," Anna is ready to find her next story. Jack, a detective with the sheriff's department, is just trying to keep his indiscretions from being broadcast on the 6 o'clock news.

While Anna is "snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers," Jack is "strangely suspicious" of his wife, "chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation," according to a logline from Netflix.

"There are two sides to every story: HIS & HERS, which means someone is always lying," Netflix added.
