Is 'SNL' new this week? Here's what we know

April 18, 2026, 3:01 p.m. ET

"Saturday Night Live" is once again taking a brief sabbatical.

A new episode of the late-night comedy showcase won't air tonight on NBC. An episode that was previously broadcast will occupy "Saturday Night Live's" usual time slot on April 18.

In the meantime, fans can stream every season of "SNL" on Peacock, or watch "The Rundown," a new short-form digital series where cast members old and new are tasked with crafting the perfect episode. New "Rundown" episodes drop Wednesdays, now through mid-June.

Olivia Rodrigo performs at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Nov. 8, 2025.

Olivia Rodrigo will break the dry spell next month, juggling hosting and musical guest duties on May 2. The May 2 appearance marks the pop star's third time on the show as musical guest. It will be her first time hosting.

Her third studio album, "You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So In Love," is due June 12. Rodrigo's newest single, "Drop Dead", is out now.

From Will Ferrell to Noah Kahan, a slate of heavy hitters will follow Rodrigo's "SNL" appearance in the weeks that follow. The "SNL" season will conclude on May 16.

Here's what to know about "SNL" programming as Season 51 wraps up, including how to watch.

When is 'SNL' coming back?

Kam Patterson, Marcello Hernández, and anchor Colin Jost during April 11's "Weekend Update."

"SNL" will be off for the summer after the May 16 show airs. A premiere date for Season 52 hasn't been announced, but the show typically returns at the very end of September or the start of October.
