Trump '60 Minutes' interview edited for airing. How to watch in full

April 28, 2026, 5:55 p.m. ET

President Donald Trump's sit-down with CBS News' "60 Minutes" focused on his account of the shooting outside the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.

However, the president's full 40-minute conversation with correspondent Norah O'Donnell, which was released online, also included wide-ranging topics from his reaction to online conspiracy theories about the incident to his response to "No Kings" protests.

In the "60 Minutes" episode that was released Sunday, April 26, 12 minutes' of O'Donnell's conversation with Trump were aired. The president, who said he "wasn't worried" as the chaos unfolded, opened up about his reaction to hearing shots fired outside the room, his efforts to resume the event and his response to the suspect's alleged email to family members that explained his plans.

Trump also defended his security after the allegedly armed suspect tried to gain entry to the Washington Hilton hotel, saying, "his speed was rather incredible ... he ran like – I think the NFL should sign him up."

Among the nearly 30 minutes of interview footage that didn't make it to air were Trump's reaction to online conspiracy theories about the DC shooting and plans for his $400 million White House ballroom project.

"I think they're more sick than they are con people, but there's a lot of con in it too," Trump said when asked by O'Donnell about theories that the WHCD incident "was staged or that it didn't happen." Trump added, "I haven't heard that last night didn't happen. Well, usually it takes a little bit longer. Usually they wait about two or three months to start saying that."

CBS News' interview with Trump aired nine months after CBS parent company Paramount settled Trump's lawsuit over the network's editing of a "60 Minutes" interview with presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The president's most recent "60 Minutes" interview with O'Donnell was similarly edited for the TV broadcast in November, with an extended version released online.
