'The Pitt' star Sepideh Moafi sets record straight on Noah Wyle 'beef'

May 27, 2026, 9:20 p.m. ET

Sepideh Moafi has set the record straight on where she stands with her onscreen counterpart on "The Pitt," Noah Wyle.

The actress and opera singer shut down any suggestion that the drama between her and Wyle goes beyond the ethical standoff between her character, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, and Wyle's Dr. Robby on the Emmy-winning HBO show.

"Absolutely not," she told Variety in an interview published May 27. "We’re really great colleagues. Noah and I have always had a great working relationship, which is why it actually felt safe to do the darker, dirtier work in Episode 15."

Between takes, the two were cracking each other up as an attempt at levity while filming the final episode, Moafi said. Tension simmering between the two daytime shift attending physicians throughout the season came to a head in "The Pitt's" Season 2 finale, with Robby reacting to the revelation of Al-Hashimi's health issue.

Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) and Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) face off in Season 2 of "The Pitt."

"So that’s completely false that there’s a personal sort of beef or rivalry between us, at least not that I’m aware of," Moafi added.

Moafi previously told USA TODAY that her and Wyle's dynamic as costars was electric from the start. During the audition process, Moafi flew to Los Angeles for a chemistry test reading with Wyle to secure casting approval. The duo worked so well together, so instantly, that Wyle suggested they just roll the cameras.

"It was so sweet, Noah was like, 'Do we need to rehearse this?' And I was like, 'I prefer not to.' So we just played on camera," Moafi said. "It took four days before I found out that I got the role. Once I did, it's been off like a bullet."

Will Dr. Al-Hashimi be back in 'The Pitt' Season 3?

Though Al-Hashimi was brought on board the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center's emergency department as Robby's temporary replacement while he takes a long-overdue sabbatical, she will be back in action alongside Robby in Season 3, as far as Moafi is concerned.

"I have no doubt she’ll come back stronger — even more resilient and grounded in herself and her purpose," Moafi previously told USA TODAY.

Season 3 of "The Pitt," which will take place close to Thanksgiving in November, has not announced a release date.
