NBC is shaking up its roster and TV schedule starting in the summer, and the changes will keep coming through the fall.

Fan-favorite shows like "The Voice", "Chicago Fire" and "Law & Order: SVU" are going on a break with a slate of game shows like "America's Got Talent", "Password" and "American Ninja Warrior" taking their place for viewers to "enjoy in between trips to the beach," NBC said.

New shows airing on NBC in the fall include "Line of Fire", "The Traitors" and "Newlyweds", meanwhile shows which have been renewed include "Chicago Fire" Season 15; "Chicago Med" Season 12; "Chicago P.D." Season 14; "Happy's Place" Season 3; "St. Denis Medical" Season 3; "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" Season 28; and "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" Season 2.

Meanwhile, the network canceled seven shows ahead of the fall season, including:

  • “Brilliant Minds”
  • “Stumble”
  • “Karamo”
  • “The Steve Wilkos Show”
  • “Law & Order: Organized Crime”
  • “The Kelly Clarkson Show”
  • “Access Hollywood"

NBC did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for more information on the cancellations.

NBCUniversal’s Jeff Bader, president of program planning strategy, told Deadline in an article published last month that scheduling the shows was "a very traditional process."

"We actually had pilot screenings and we were able to look at the shows, we had a choice for different shows in different time periods, and we picked the ones that we thought fit the best into the schedule that we put together,” Bader told the media outlet.
