Joy Behar explains health issue on 'The View' – 'I'm not drinking'

July 7, 2026, 3:58 p.m. ET

Joy Behar has a simple explanation for why she sometimes looks unsteady on "The View" – she's "dizzy," not drunk.

The daytime cohost spoke out about her ongoing health issue on the Monday, July 6, episode.

"I got acupuncture, because I'm dizzy," the 83-year-old said during the ABC talk show. "I walk and I'm dizzy. Has anyone noticed, I walk like I'm drunk? I'm not drinking. I don't drink."

"You're escorted at times to your seat," cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin joked.

Behar laughed off her wobbly appearance, attributing it to her latest wellness treatment.

"Between the Botox, the Ozempic and the acupuncture, I'm, like, full of needles, more than a drug addict," she said.

Behar wasn't originally scheduled to appear on Monday's episode. She typically joins the panel Tuesday through Friday, but she stepped in after weather-related travel disruptions sidelined three cohosts, leaving executive producer Brian Teta scrambling to fill out the panel without regulars Ana Navarro, Sara Haines and Whoopi Goldberg.

Goldberg appeared via video from Italy, explaining that her return to New York had been delayed after Mount Etna entered its ninth consecutive day of volcanic activity.

Joy Behar attends the "Barbara Walters Tell Me Everything" premiere during the 2025 Tribeca Festival at SVA Theater in New York City on June 12, 2025.

"I am in Sicily right now, and Mount Etna, which is one of our active volcanoes here in Italy, decided to go off today," Goldberg said. "We have spent most of the day trying to get back to the United States, and all of the airports are closed here, so I will be back as soon as I can."

Michelle Buteau, who had been booked as a guest, instead joined the panel for the full episode alongside Sunny Hostin and Griffin.

Behar recently returned from her own European trip after spending a few weeks in June in Paris and London performing her stage play, "My First Ex-Husband."

During her absence on the show, guest cohosts have included Sheryl Underwood and Kara Swisher.
