It's voting time America! Here's where and when the 2026 elections kick off
It's voting time again, America.
Over the next seven months, depending on where you live, candidates are vying in party primaries to be on the general election ballot come November. Their aim: Winning jobs to the U.S. Congress during President Donald Trump's final two years in the White House.
The first Election Day arrives March 3 in Texas, Arkansas and North Carolina, with primaries continuing on an almost weekly basis (with a break in April) through mid-September. Recent results and polling show Democrats are gaining momentum in their bid to win back majorities in the U.S. House and even the Senate, which in turn would give them the ability to block Trump's agenda while leading investigations, oversight and possibly impeachments.
These primary elections are often battles for the souls of a political party – since it’s the most die-hard partisans who tend to turn out and vote in any race that takes place before November. Some of the campaigns are also more about personality than policy, though the major undercurrent in both Democratic and Republican races are centering around whether you'd work against - or with - Trump. Buckle up.
This is a developing story that has been updated.
