Uber Eats launches Aldi partnership, deals on fresh produce

Grocery delivery from discount supermarket chain Aldi is now available on Uber Eats.

Grocery delivery from discount supermarket chain Aldi is now available on Uber Eats.

The partnership, announced Sept. 25, allows Uber Eats users to have their order from one of Aldi’s 2,500-plus U.S. stores delivered directly to their front door. Delivery options include most in-store offerings, including Aldi’s brand label products and items from the stores' limited-quantity Aldi Finds aisle.

"We know there’s a lot of people that are big fans of Aldi, so adding their selection and their products to the platform is really exciting," Rebecca Payne, Uber's group product manager for grocery and retail, told USA TODAY.

The supermarket chain is the first on the platform to accept SNAP-EBT payments from day one. (Other partners started to accept SNAP benefits, formerly known as food stamps, after their initial launch on the app.)

Aldi delivery is also available through DoorDash and Instacart.

To celebrate the new partnership, Uber Eats is offering 40% off Aldi orders of at least $30 with the code ALDIUBER25 for savings up to $25.

Uber Eats also announced a weekly “Fresh Days” deal, where Uber One members get 30% off select produce, meat, dairy and eggs every Tuesday from Aldi and other retailers. An Uber One membership, which offers $0 delivery fees on eligible orders and other discounts, costs $9.99 per month or $96 per year.

The announcement comes as higher food prices squeeze shoppers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found grocery prices rose 0.6% from July to August, the fastest monthly rate change since October 2022.

"We are seeing these high grocery prices, particularly on these fresh items," Payne said. "At Uber, we're looking to see what we can do to improve affordability on the platform."
