Aldi will open more than 180 new stores in 31 states this year as the grocery store chain pushes to expand its reach across the country.

The new stores will bring the retailer's U.S. location count to nearly 2,800, as it pushes toward a goal of 3,200 stores by the end of 2028, Aldi announced in a Jan. 12 news release.

Under the plan, the discount grocer will enter new states, including Maine and Colorado, and will expand its footprint in some markets in the West.

Aldi also said it is aiming to convert dozens of locations of Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket, that it acquired in March 2024.

With the new location openings, Aldi said it is planning to open three new distribution centers across the country in the next three years.

In addition, Aldi said it is redesigning its website "to deliver a seamless online experience that matches the ease of in-store shopping." The new site, which will include personalized product recommendations and expanded nutritional information, will launch early this year.

    • Aldi is aiming to open four additional stores in Las Vegas by 2030 after launching its first four in 2025.

Some of the new stores opening this year include former Southeastern Grocers locations, Aldi said. Nearly 80 locations will be converted to Aldi stores this year, with more than 200 to be converted by the end of 2027. Aldi's acquisition of the company in 2024 included stores across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Separately, in Colorado, Aldi said it is planning to open more than 50 stores in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas over the next five years. It is also opening a new distribution center in Aurora, which is projected to open in 2029.

Three new Aldi distribution centers will open in the next three years to keep up with the chain's momentum. Each will create hundreds of new jobs, Aldi said. Here's where they will be:

  • Baldwin, Florida: projected 2027
  • Goodyear, Arizona: projected 2028
  • Aurora, Colorado: projected 2029

Aldi said it is also expanding its existing distribution center in Haines City, Florida, to include a chilled center for perishable foods so that it can deliver more fresh meat and produce items across the Southeast.
