The newly built Shoppes at Country Club shopping center in Winter Haven is getting a new Publix on Thursday, April 30, according to the company's coming-soon page.
The new store measures 46,791 square feet and features the modern, redesigned look that the Lakeland-based grocery chain has been rolling out in all its new and redesigned stores in recent months. The new stores include wider aisles, self-checkout lanes, expanded deli options, and larger displays in the bakery, meat, and seafood departments, and expanded service for online ordering, delivery, and curbside pickup. The new Winter Haven store will also include a drive-thru pharmacy and a liquor store next door.
The new store will be the fourth Publix in Winter Haven, with two more under construction in the area.
Publix Super Markets opened or reopened dozens of stores in 2025, many of them in Florida, with some featuring additional amenities such as olive bars, popcorn stands, and Pours beverage bars.
After this, the next Publix to open will be in Palm Beach Gardens on May 21.

The new Winter Haven location opens at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 30. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony just before that.

It might! The enormous 11’9” tall, 14’ long, and more than 7.5’ wide Publix shopping cart can often be seen cruising around the area whenever a Publix opens.
The cart, built on top of a Volkswagen Sand Rail, has a driver sitting underneath and can reach speeds up to 45 mph.
More grocery store chains expanding in Florida
There's something of a grocery store arms race going on in Florida right now.
Discount grocery chain Aldi has already opened about 20 locations this year with more scheduled in May, many of them converted Winn-Dixie locations from Aldi's brief acquisition of that company in 2024-2025. Aldi opened about 60 locations in the Sunshine State last year.
The Winn-Dixie Co. has bought a small chain of three independent stores to convert and is in the process of converting Harvey's Supermarket stores in Ocala, Lakeland, and Jacksonville into Winn-Dixie locations.
Meanwhile, Trader Joe's, a more upscale grocery destination, opened a location in Daytona Beach, Florida, in November and another in Melbourne, Florida, on Dec. 3. Two more are planned for West Palm Beach and Orlando.
A Whole Foods Market is set to open in Jacksonville on May 21.
