This Texas city ranks among best places to raise a family, report says
Natassia PalomaA recent report named Plano, Texas, as one of the top cities in the United States to raise a family.
The city, located north of Dallas, ranked No. 4 in WalletHub's Best Places to Raise a Family in 2026. WalletHub compared 182 U.S. cities — including the 150 most populous cities in America. The top spots scored high in the categories for family fun, health and safety, education and childcare, affordability and socioeconomics.

The cities that ranked above Plano were Fremont, CA (No. 1), Overland Park, KS (No. 2) and Irvine, CA (No. 3).
Plano's population is 298,430, and it is an affluent area — the city has a median income of $108,649 and a median home value of $872,499, according to Plano Economic Development.
"With a national reputation as one of the best places for professional families to live and work, Plano boasts excellent public and private schools, top-rated hospitals, low crime rates and a diverse range of housing options, making it an ideal environment for raising a family," Plano Economic Development writes on its website.
The city's website also notes other accolades that Plano has received in the past few years, including the No. 1 spot for Happiest Big City in America and Best Park System in Texas.
