Brooklyn 4-year-old handed out paper hearts to strangers just to make them smile
Kendall MalinchockA four-year-old became an ambassador of kindness in Brooklyn.
During a two-day school break, Adonis was doing arts and crafts at home when he asked his mom, Andrea Davis Woods, to help him cut out paper hearts.
"He wanted help with hearts and I didn't know why but we did it," said Andrea.
The next morning, instead of the usual snack, Andrea discovered his lunch bag was packed full of the paper hearts.
"This was completely his idea," she said. "[I'm] still shocked he had a plan the whole time."
Once they stepped outside, the reason became clear. Adonis began handing out the hearts to people in his community. He started with the concierge in his building, then a woman waiting for the subway, then a few more strangers.
"People loved it," said his mom. The simple gesture sparked real connections. One shop owner now gives Adonis fruit on the way to school. Another offered him drum lessons.
There were no messages written on the hearts — just the universal shape of love. As World Kindness Week invites people to look for small ways to care for one another, Adonis may have already mastered the art.
