Family surprises 911 dispatcher during her retirement sign‑off call
Ronnie LiAfter 31 years of guiding callers through their worst moments, a 911 dispatcher got one final call she will never forget.
Hayley Franklin, 51, took more than 200,000 calls during her career at the Stanly County Communications Center. She joined the center as a single mother supporting her 3-year-old daughter, Kasey, and worked 12-hour shifts until Kasey was 10.
Now married with two daughters, Franklin is ready to retire. To honor her years of service, Franklin's supervisor arranged a surprise. The supervisor contacted Franklin's family so they could join her final sign-off call and share messages of love and gratitude for the dedicated mother and wife who had long been a steady voice in chaos.
