Daughters pull off epic surprise for parents' wedding anniversary

When Danny and Rosie Rubino boarded their flight from Toronto to Aruba to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary, they were disappointed to be going alone.

The couple honeymooned on the island in 1996, and it had been their hope to return one day with their daughters, Celina and Alyssa.

Unfortunately, Celina and Alyssa weren’t able to make the trip — or so they told their parents.

“As they moved forward with booking the trip for just the two of them, they continually encouraged us to come,” Celina said. “We kept saying we couldn't because of work.”

What Danny and Rosie didn't know was their daughters were secretly working to make the trip happen. Taking time off and coordinating schedules weren't easy, but the sisters eventually found a way.

“We initially wanted to give [our parents] the opportunity to enjoy some time alone, but they constantly reminded us that celebrating their anniversary with us would be their dream,” Celina said.

Confident their parents truly wanted them there, Celina and Alyssa booked flights for the day after Danny and Rosie departed.

The sisters documented every step of the surprise journey that ended with them at the front steps of their parents' villa.

When Danny and Rosie answered the knock at the door, they never expected to find their daughters standing on the other side. Within seconds, the couple erupted in excitement and wrapped their daughters in hugs.

“Seeing how genuinely surprised and happy they were made all the planning completely worth it,” Celina said. “It turned a vacation into a memory that all four of us will cherish forever.”
